Alisha started playing the saxophone at the age of 11 under instruction of Miles Tranter at the United World College of S.E Asia. Five years later; she could be spotted playing professionally around Singapore’s hot night spots.   At the age of 17, Alisha was awarded the Trinity High Scorers Award in Singapore, after playing at the Trinity Concert 2003 located at the Singapore DBS Arts Theater.  In between juggling high school and traveling to stay in touch with friends and family, Alisha has had the opportunity to gig all around the world, including major cities such as Houston, Ho Chi Minh City, Perth, Singapore and Brisbane.  At the end of 2006 Alisha received a Bachelor of Music in Jazz saxophone and education preparation from Australia’s prestigious Queensland Conservatorium of Music in Brisbane.  There she had the opportunity to study under Mark Spencer, Stephen Newcomb, Louise Denson, and many other prominent Australian Jazz musicians.  As of 2007 Alisha relocated to the USA (Houston, Texas) and has been actively involved in the blues and jazz scene around town.  Current project includes her own jazz duo, that plays bimonthly at The Tasting Room, at Uptown Park (see gig schedule for dates).
