Biography
Alisha started playing the saxophone at the age of 11 under instruction of Miles Tranter at the United World College of S.E Asia. Five years later; she could be spotted playing professionally  around Singapore’s hot night spots.   At the age of 17, Alisha was awarded the Trinity High Scorers Award in Singapore, after playing at the Trinity Concert 2003 located at the Singapore DBS Arts Theater.  In between juggling high school and traveling to stay in touch with friends and family, Alisha has had the opportunity to gig all around the world, including major cities such as Houston, Ho Chi Minh City, Perth, Singapore and Brisbane.  At the end of 2006 Alisha received a Bachelor of Music in Jazz saxophone and education perperation from Australia’s prestigious Queensland Conservatorium of Music, in Brisbane.  There she had the oppurtunity to study under Mark Spencer, Stephen Newcomb, Louise Denson, and many other prominent Australian Jazz musicians.  As of 2007 Alisha relocated to the USA (Houston, Texas) and has been actively involved in the blues and jazz scene around town.  Current project inclues her own jazz group "moodswings", in addition to local acts: The Brad Absher Band, Albert Storo and the Soul Hustlers, The New Jack Hippies, The Honeymakers, and The Blues Pigs.  Alisha does numerous 'sit in' gigs with jazz, blues and party bands around the Houston area.  As well as gigging Alisha is available for teaching instrumental lessons on  saxophones and flute.  (Please contact her at leash@saxleash.com for lesson enquiries) .
